How to set up DerivedRP

Want to set up a server using a gamemode which is a renamed version of darkrp? (I.e. MilitaryRP, StarwarsRP, HogwartsRP, PoliceRP etc)

Instructions

To install these, you need to use DerivedRP for DarkRP

  1. Install DarkRP and DerivedRP from our mod manager
  2. Navigate to the garrysmod/gamemodes/derivedrp folder of our File Manager, or FTP using Filezilla
  3. You'll need to edit derivedrp.txt, gamemode/init.lua, gamemode/cl_init.lua and rename the DerivedRP folder itself. Examples can be found below:

Gamemode Examples

MilitaryRP:

Rename the derivedrp folder to "militaryrp" and inside it, derivedrp.txt to "militaryrp.txt"

Inside militaryrp.txt, change the first line to "militaryrp", and change the title from "DerivedRP" to "MilitaryRP"

Inside gamemode/init.lua, change GM.Name to "MilitaryRP"

Inside gamemode/cl_init.lua, change GM.Name to "MilitaryRP"

Select the gamemode in a new custom commandline, select that commandline, then restart your server.

StarwarsRP:

Rename the derivedrp folder to "starwarsrp" and inside it, derivedrp.txt to "starwarsrp.txt"

Inside militaryrp.txt, change the first line to "starwarsrp", and change the title from "DerivedRP" to "starwarsrp"

Inside gamemode/init.lua, change GM.Name to "starwarsrp"

Inside gamemode/cl_init.lua, change GM.Name to "starwarsrp"

Select the gamemode in a new custom commandline, select that commandline, then restart your server.

Other Gamemodes

For other variations on these, in general:

Rename the derivedrp folder to a fully lowercase, no spaces name of the gamemode. Then, inside it, rename derivedrp.txt to <nameoffolder>.txt (Without the <>)

Inside the text file, change the top line to the name of the folder in speech marks, and change the title to the same title as everyone else in the server list uses, or whatever you'd like (I.e. HogwartsRP, PrisonRP, PoliceRP etc)

Inside gamemode/init.lua and gamemode/cl_init.lua, change GM.Name to the same title you set.

Select this new gamemode in a new custom commandline, then select that commandline
